A superb example of French Louis-Philippe period furniture, this flame mahogany commode dates to circa 1840–1860 and exemplifies the restrained elegance that defined the bourgeois interior of mid-19th century France. The case is veneered in richly figured flame mahogany, the dramatic grain bookmatched across three generous drawers to create a mesmerizing flame pattern — a hallmark of the finest Parisian ébénisterie of the period.
The piece features a stunning St. Anne black-and-white veined marble top, a classic pairing that lends both gravitas and practicality. A discreet frieze drawer sits above the three main drawers, each fitted with brass knobs and escutcheons - original key included. The plinth base and bracket feet are characteristic of the Louis-Philippe form — clean, architectural, and built to last.
