A captivating 19th century French accent chair in the Gustavian style — with a provenance as evocative as its form: sourced from a Parisian cinema, where it once graced the interiors of one of the great picture houses of the French capital. The Gustavian aesthetic — which brought the restraint and elegance of Swedish neoclassicism into dialogue with the French Louis XVI tradition — is expressed here in a carved and painted frame with a beautifully distressed chalky grey-white surface that speaks to generations of use.

The balloon-shaped back is surmounted by a carved crest, while the seat rail is trimmed with brass nailhead detail and upholstered in a clean neutral linen. The four tapered and lightly fluted legs are slender, architectural, and elegant — lifting the chair with the characteristic lightness of the neoclassical period. This chair carries with it the romance of Parisian cinema history and the quiet authority of the Gustavian tradition.
