A charming and highly usable pair of French console tables in the Directoire taste, painted in a faded celadon green that has mellowed beautifully over time to a soft, chalky sage. The paint surface is authentically aged — gently chipped and worn at the edges — lending the pair the kind of effortless patina that takes generations to acquire and cannot be convincingly replicated.

Each table features a clean rectangular granite top, a plain molded frieze, and four elegantly tapered square legs — the restrained, neoclassical vocabulary of the Directoire period (circa 1795–1804) that bridges the ornament of Louis XVI with the austerity of the Empire. The matching scale and finish make them ideal as a flanking pair in an entry hall, flanking a fireplace, or used as sofa tables behind a settee.
